National average: $35,000 per The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study. City figures reflect the typical mid-size wedding range stated in each city guide, with sources named there.
What the ranking says
New York and San Francisco run roughly double the national average. A typical NYC wedding costs more than the highest-end wedding in Phoenix or Houston.
The gap between #1 and #23 is about $60,698. Same guest count, same vendor categories. The difference is venue real estate, labor costs, and demand density.
Texas is the value play among big metros: Houston and Dallas both sit at or below the national average with deep vendor benches. Browse Houston venues or Dallas venues to see the difference in rental pricing.
Methodology
Each figure comes from our published city cost guide, which cross-references named industry sources (The Knot, Zola, wedding.report, Pix Wedding) with direct vendor quotes from the All Wedding directory. Ranges represent a 100 to 150 guest wedding at mid-tier vendors. Rankings sort by range midpoint. Luxury and micro weddings fall outside these ranges by design.
